30 days to Grow Your Important Relationships from Appreciation

grow your important relationships

Have you seen the many 30 day challenges out there?  There are certainly a lot – it seem like every company and their brother has a 30 day challenge.  Most challenges focus on the single individual, while the end result usually only affects that person.  For  example, like weight loss challenges.

Inside Mailbox woman getting surprise greeting cardYes, you can invite people to do the challenge with you,  but how would you like to participate in a different sort of challenge?  A challenge that helps not only you, but in which your efforts affect other lives?

The SendOutCards 30 Day Gratitude Challenge is designed in such a way that it in fact will affect other lives, and it’s a great example of cause and effect. How? Let me start by explaining how it works.

I personally am in the middle of doing this Challenge. It’s simple–I mail one card a day with a heartfelt sentiment included.   This card might go out to a loved one, a friend, a customer, a prospect, a business association, or to whomever I have a prompting to touch base with.   Each day I chose a different person.

I recommend choosing your person that day by simply following your prompting.

1.  is  a  thought  or  feeling  that  guides  you

2.  an  intuition

Promptings usually manifest themselves as an intuition to reach out in kindness to others.

The prompting could be someone you have been thinking about a lot but haven’t seen in a long time. Maybe it’s someone you heard is going through a hard time.  It could be someone that helped you unexpectedly. Whoever it is, there should be a positive heartfelt message.

But why participate in this challenge? Here are three reasons I’m part of the SendOutCards 30 Day Gratitude Challenge

1.  Appreciation  is  an  effective  touchpoint.

Everyone loves to be appreciated.  This tangible form of showing appreciation is one of the most effective ways to grow a relationship. Sending out a thank you card or card to simply say “I appreciate you” touches lives. This touchpoint goes a long way towards strengthening the ties between you and the recipient of your heartfelt sentiment.

2.    Positivity

I think everyone has heard the saying, “What you put out is what you get back” or “You reap what you sow”.  There is a lot of negativity in the world, and here is a smart way to put positive vibes, feelings, thoughts into those lives you connect with.  I simply never tire of having a positive influence in my life.  Here is a perfect way to be a positive influence in those live you touch.

3.    Life  Change

I know you will find that, at the end of your 30 days of participation, there will be lives changed, and you will be that person who changed them. Time and time again, I get calls from people, whom I have sent a gratitude card, telling me that the card came at the perfect time.

“Gina, you simply don’t know how much I needed to hear that,” they say. And this is the main reason I keep doing this 30 Day Gratitude Challenge. Because in the end, it will have changed my life.

Back  to  the  cause  and  effect

The cause is simply sending out a tangible symbol of your appreciation, a card with a heartfelt message, to one person. The effect is that your relationship, whether business or personal, is strengthened. The best part is that you did the challenge. The recipient didn’t have to do a thing, yet you affected their life for the better. At the end of the 30 days, 31 one lives have been changed–30 recipients, and perhaps most strongly, you!

    1. Hi Suzan, I am really glad you feel it is a great idea. Wish I had come up with it, but it actually dates back to the ’60’s. Joe Girard is the Guinness World Record Holder for selling the most automobiles, 13k. He averaged 6 cars a day. How did he do this? Every person he met, ever sold a car to, he hand wrote and mailed out 13 cards to each person. This was how he built his Word of Mouth referral business. (I love this story.)

    1. Your welcome, I have found that because I am giving by appreciating the people in my life on a daily based, that I have become more grateful to those lives that touch my life.
